In order to detect and remove the potentially unwanted program DNS Unlocker it is advisable to download an anti-malware tool and run a deep system scan. Have in mind that when all harmful files are deleted from the system the settings of your DNS server address could remain modified. So you should check them manually and configure the changes. Most Windows users could access these settings by entering their Network and Connection panel and them navigate to:

Properties > Internet Protocol V4 > Properties > Advanced > DNS tab

Keyboard shortcuts allow you to perform different Windows actions quickly and improve your productivity. Here is a list of several effective keyboard shortcuts with Ctrl button and with Windows key. Give them a try and you may change forever the way you perform some actions in Windows. Here is the list:

Ctrl shortcuts

Ctrl+Shift+N:  Create a new folder;
Ctrl+Shift+Esc:  Open Task Manager; 
Ctrl+A: Select all items in a document or window;
Ctrl+Right Arrow:  Move the cursor to the beginning of the next word; 
Ctrl+Left Arrow:  Move the cursor to the start of the previous word; 
Ctrl+N:  Open a new window; 
Ctrl+W:  Close a window; 
Ctrl+Esc:  Open the Start menu; 
Ctrl+P:  Print a document; 
Ctrl + Shift + T:  Resume closed tab; 
Ctrl + Tab:  Move forward through different tabs; 
Ctrl + Shift + Tab: Move back through tabs. 

Windows key shortcuts

Windows key +S: Open search bar;
Windows key + E: Quickly access your Hard Drives; 
Windows key + X: Open the Quick Link menu; 
Windows key + R: Open the Run dialog box;

I’m really happy to hear some good news. If the “white hats” succeed to improve their decryption tool, it will be of great use for many infected people. I’m curious to understand what will happen next, so I’ll keep following this topic.

After this information I became suspicious of every pop-up that urge me to give admin privileges.. scaaary ;D
Anyway, do I correctly understand that only reboot but not power off could take me to the second phase of Petya ransomware? And are there any useful recovery tools for MBR that you recommend?

It’s curious that there is a chance for an infected user to decrypt a Petya encrypted computer and succeed to circumvent this fierce ransomware. But I’m wondering what’s happening in the first phase when the user should react?  How can be this phase spotted?
