Maxthon Web Browser
« on: September 29, 2015, 04:08:43 pm »
The Maxthon browser has been around for quite a long time now – more than 10 years. If you still haven’t heard of it, now is a good time. It has a lot of nifty features and half of them are either not found or tend to be ignored in other browsers.

Maxthon is a multi-platform cloud browser and offers support for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Windows Phone, iOS and Android. It offers a great synchronization between these operating systems and different devices. Maxthon stands out for its cloud services like Cloud Push and Cloud Download, which, respectively, let you send data to other devices (even over SMS) and save Web downloads to cloud storage instead to your computer.

The browser supports HTML5 in a unique way, combining both the WebKit and Trident rendering engines, which can be switched between via its Ultra and Retro modes. This is a very clever implementation as it serves the purpose to render and load any Web pages over the Internet and both layout engines are not found together in any other browser.
Maxthon has standard extension like other browsers – Favourite Bookmarks, Tabs, Pop-Up Blocker and using a master password for multiple sites. But, it also has other unique and very useful features included with its installation – AdBlock Plus, Mouse Gesture and Multi-Search.

AdBlock Plus is a great filter that blocks ads using both images and flash. The Mouse Gesture feature can be used to navigate through the internet by moving the mouse in patterns and giving commands that way such as Forward, Back, Refresh or even Hide. The Multi-Search allows you to search the Web for keywords via multiple search engines at the same time, also being able to choose how many, and which engines to include.

Many users report that Maxthon runs smoothly on different devices, cross platforms. Also, that it uses less memory and is faster than other browsers they have used.

If you haven't used this browser before, you can give it a go and share your first impressions of it below! :)

I have actually never heard of this browser before, but I find it very nice! It has an easy to use UI and it loads pages faster than other browsers I have used - just what I needed!
Thank you for posting this.  :)

My only concern is that is it more efficient than Chrome or Firefox because initially most of the browsers work fine and more efficient but after some time these browsers hang up and hang up as well as your computer.

I have been using the browser for quite some time now. I can tell you that it is, indeed, more efficient than other browsers! Not only does it load more types of web pages, but it is a cloud browser, and its base files are stored on Maxthon's servers. Also your history and privacy files are the only ones stored on your PC, so you can delete them. I recommend Maxthon!

@Tabeer @James

I have found out that upon installing new versions of Maxthon, it has a Maxthon App Store add-on selected to be installed with it. It's nothing malicious, but you might see a pop-up or two for a promotion they are running - it can be uninstalled as well.

Browser still runs fast as always.

@Tabeer, Maxthon is arguably faster than Google Chrome, as it is a Cloud browser. You can try it.
Privacy information is still stored on your computer, so that's good - you can always delete it.
It also has a build-in protection from advertisements that might contain potentially unwanted software.

Try other browsers till you find a one that you can easily switch from Chrome/Opera as interface and speed.

@Execute, Not well known browsers can't compete with browser-industry leaders like Google chrome, Mozilla etc in-term of support of latest technology tools or amount of updates they offer, so I'm confuse that how can I leave Chrome. Mozilla. I'm after a solution to fix my chrome problems

I have misunderstood you, from the way you have written your previous post here about your "not load pages" issue. So that's why I suggested Maxthon, as it can load pages written both in WebKit and Trident rendering engines, and most browsers can read only one type of engine on HTML5. The browser is known for 10 years, and has always been with less bugs and the better, more-secure version of Internet Explorer. As I read, your post about you switching to Opera and it being less efficient, I thought you were trying different browsers for speed as well.

Maxthon has automatic updates and they are from 3 to 15 days, and for reference Chrome has a 15 day time frame for updates. So I disagree that the browser cannot compete with others, in terms of updates. On the contrary - Maxthon is frequently updated.

It was just a suggestion - in the end you decide what browser you want to use.

On the Should I Remove It? website, you can see the reputability and people's trust of the Maxthon browser.

On the Software Insider website, you can see a comparison between the Google Chrome and Maxthon browsers.

If you have problems with Chrome - that is another thing.
You might trying to reset your browsers - try this solution written in another topic of our forum.

Best Regards,
Execute

You are right to some extent but i like chrome extensions which come handy in many ways. Sorry for being too lazy, can you tell me whether Maxthon has an option to add extensions like adblocker etc. if yes, i love to try it.

No problem, Tabeer - yes, Maxthon does have extensions. The new versions of the browser even come with the ad-blocker AdBlockPlus. You can remove it, switch to something else and also choose many other extensions at the Maxthon Extension Center.

No problem, Tabeer. I hope so too. :)
But what happened with the Newfolder and Wajam malware? ??? Have you tried Avast / Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or another program?
Do you still have the problem and need assistance?
