Steps to Remove Great Find Ads Completely

PC riskAdware and potentially unwanted programs have been on the rise recently. Great Find also known as Great Find Ads is considered one of them. As reported by Enigma Software researchers, the extension’s official website doesn’t provide many details on what it does. Furthermore, the Terms of Use are written in a vague manner, and it remains unclear who created the application. Users need to be careful since Great Find may be included in the download packages of various freeware products under their Advanced or Custom installation option. Also, Great Find can be classified as an adware extension since it generates multiple advertisements within the browser.

Great Find Ads Distribution Path

As already mentioned, the Great Find browser extension is most likely distributed through bundling of software. Bundling means that Great Find has been downloaded unknowingly by the user just because he skipped the button prompting for advanced or custom installation. Make sure to always read the EULA (End User License Agreement), Down Agreement and Privacy Policy of any software that you intend to download.

Great Find Ads General Description

The browser extension may use DOM (Document Object Model) storage and as a result, record any typed URLs. Furthermore, Great Find may be able to:

  • Read the user’s browsing and download history.
  • Customize the ad-related content displayed to the user such as promotions, offers, etc.
  • Display unwanted advertisements within the browser – Explorer, Firefox, Chrome.
  • Cause unsafe browser redirects, possibly to predefined pages.
  • Install riskware applications and slow down the system and the browser.

Great Find Ads Removal Steps

Due to all the trouble the extension may cause, its complete removal is recommended. STF researchers have provided a step-by-step removal guide below.

Keep in mind that Great Find may situate its file in the Temp folder of the OS and escape detection. Moreover, it may not show up on the Programs and Features module. Thus, manual removal can be a bit tricky. In this case, installing valid antivirus software is the best removal option.
