Bazzsearch(.)com – How Is It Spread?

Bazzsearch could be found inside third-party installational setups. The hijacker program can penetrate your PC’s defenses without your awareness. Freeware installers or bundle packages can deliver such hijacker platforms. By default, additive components are selected for installation. To prevent unwanted installs of such applications on your computer check for a Custom or an Advanced settings menu around the setup.

The Bazzsearch hijacker could spread with the help of adverts, as pop-ups for instance, and from visiting sites with bad popularity. These websites are likely to be partnered in some way with the Bazzsearch platform. Browsers that can be affected are: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox.

Bazzsearch(.)com – What Does It Do?

Bazzsearch(.)com is the official web address of the browser hijacker Bazzsearch. The site is very simply built – a picture of a bee as a background and a search bar. Nothing else is on the site – no buttons, links or information. Nevertheless, if you have it on your computer – you will witness changes in your browsers. These changes for all browsers always include a modified homepage, new tab, and search engine. A toolbar could be added. The search engine settings can differentiate according to the used browser.

Add-ons and browser extensions could distribute the hijacker as well, especially if included in bundled programs located on your computer. The extensions could redirect you to the Bazzsearch(.)com site or affiliated ones.

Bazzsearch(.)com will redirect you. The most common redirect is to a Yahoo look-alike search engine. In fact that is Safe Finder, a very well known browser hijacker. Bazzsearch(.)com will be used as a filter for your searches. The hijacker may display sponsored advertising content in search results.

STF-bazzsearch-bazz-search-site-search-results

In the picture shown above you see that the search engine is changed to Safe Finder. Also, there are advertisements on the page with the search results.

The Privacy Policy of Bazzsearch(.)com is unknown, but very likely to be the same as that of Safe Finder. Both hijackers link to Safe Finder sites, although not constantly. The policy makes it transparent that personally and non-personally identifying information will be collected. Inside you can also read that the collected data can be shared with third-parties on occasion.

Information collected by the hijacker, according to the Safe Finder Policy:

  • Browser (type and language)
