PriceChop is a shopping assistant tool, compatible with a great number of the top online merchants like Amazon, Walmart, eBay, etc. The browser add-on analyses the sites the user accesses and displays relevant coupons, deals and special offers, when a certain product website that is a part of their coupon program is visited. PriceChop is considered a potentially unwanted program because of the third party advertisements it displays. The content of the links suggested by PriceChop are unverified, and the user opens them at his own risk.
Like many other free applications PriceChop can be downloaded from the official product page (price-chop.info) or can be distributed via bundled downloads of programs like media players, browser extensions or system optimization programs. Although the user may not recall installing PriceChop, the application can be downloaded by a single click on the I Accept button during the installation process of numerous adware programs.
How Does PriceChop Work?
Once activated PriceChop starts displaying various product advertisements according to the visitor’s search entries. The tool could be quite attractive for users looking for the best deals online, but there are a few things you should consider before you decide to keep this add-on. PriceChop is sponsored by third parties, which may use it to expose users to malicious contents. Their usual approach is to ask you to participate in online surveys or to download fake updates. As soon as you click on the link you may be redirected to an infected webpage.
Informartion PriceChop Collects
When it comes to the security of your data, PriceChop should not be considered the most-trustworthy shopping assistant tool either. PriceChop may gather information about your browsing activities, which may be shared with third parties for advertising purposes. The add-on uses cookies and other tracking technology, that may be used to collect and store information about your web usage, such as search queries, pages visited, etc. Non-personally identifiable information may be provided to other parties for marketing other purposes. Third parties connected to PriceChop, that may also use tracking technology, such as beacons, cookies, Javascript, may send ads directly to your browser.
