SafeHomepage(.)com – How Did I Get It?

You can get SafeHomepage with third-party installation setups. Hijackers like this one take control over your browser apps without you realizing. Bundle packs and installations for freeware programs might get the hijacker on your PC. By default, the freeware install setups have some features selected for installation, but could be hidden. The additive features include software. To avoid unneeded software installs, you should search for Custom or Advanced options and deselect those you want.

The SafeHomepage hijacker could easily get inside your computer system alongside advertisements, like pop-up banners and similar ones. Another way of spreading is suspicious sites visits, containing redirects. The websites might be partnered in some way with SafeHomepage(.)com. Browsers that can be affected are: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox.

SafeHomepage(.)com – More About It

SafeHomepage(.)com is the main domain of a search engine and a browser hijacker named SafeHomepage. The search engine has the web address – Searches.safehomepage(.)com and has an in-built toolbar.

STF-searches-safehomepage-com-safe-home-page-browser-hijacker-main-site-page

Above you see the SafeHomepage browser hijacker. If software associated with it finds a way to your machine, preferences and settings of browsers you have will get modified. The new tab and homepage along with the search engine will be the settings that will most likely undergo changes. Know that a toolbar or a sidebar might show up as well.

An extension or browser add-ons related to SafeHomepage might set in your browsers. If you see such extensions added, be aware that they also have hijacking capabilities. Many of them will arrive with other applications inside a bundle. The extensions might redirect you to the SafeHomepage(.)com site or others, which are its partners and affiliates.

STF-searches-safehomepage-com-safe-home-page-hijacker-search-results

SafeHomepage(.)com can redirect you to other places. When you use its search engine, you will witness lots of adverts, in-text linking, and sponsored results. Targeted content may fill up almost the whole page. An example of one such search results page is displayed in the above image for you to see.

SafeHomepage will filter all of your search queries, gather information about you, your habits and internet usage. Be careful what you type in if you use its search.

The Privacy Policy of SafeHomepage(.)com is short but filled with plenty of information for you to see that both personally and non-personally identifying information are collected. Your IP address can personally identify you, so that is reason enough for you not to trust this hijacker.

You can see the Privacy Policy:

The following information could be collected:

  • Your access and use of Safehomepage

  • Your Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • The browser configuration of your computer
  • The date and time of your request
  • The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the referring and exiting websites
  • The search terms you submit
  • Links you click upon the results pages
  • Other similar information

Browsing through SafeHomepage(.)com or using its related services, automatically gives your consent for the collection of information about you and your computer device. The policy claims that any collected personal information will not be rented, shared or sold with third parties, unless certain circumstances occur – if a court order is issued or perhaps if the company is being sold. If you visit other sites from the search results of the hijacker, other privacy policies will be in place.
