Ever had the situation in your Android device where you would get an unfamiliar icon on either the top right or top left corner of your screen which cannot be removed?
This question the main reason why we decided to create the following article and explain to you what those icons are, appearing on your
tablets so that you can decide whether or not the notifications they represent are important or not. Let’s begin!
Bear in mind that since the number of those icons is vast, we will focus only on the most unrecognizable ones, to help you understand them.
The Android Icons List
The Plus in a Circle Icon
This icon means that you can save on your data usage by going into the data settings on your device. It is called the Data Saver icon and it exists primarily in Android devices with Nougat 7.0 version.
Two Horizontal Arrows Icon
This icon means that if you have mobile data usage enabled, the network behind the data usage is using LTE services, more importantly VoLTE (Voice Over LTE). It is basically using 4G to make voice communications, similar to what VoIP (voice over IP) is. So far this technology is being tested by most cell phone carriers, but it is already implemented by few of them.
G, E and H Icons
Basically, these icons are related to your internet connection speed and data plan. G is for GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) which you may as well be aware of by now and it is the slowest of them all. The E is the same technology, but in a more advanced and evolved form, called EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GMS Evolution. The H, respectively stands for HSPDA or High-Speed Downlink Packet access – basically 3G, but a bit faster. It also has an H+ version which is it’s evolved variant, that is not as speedy as a 4G network is, but has more reception currently.
H+ Icon
Similar to the H, E, G and 3G icons, the H+ icon is an evolved H connection, but still it is not as fast as a regular 4G connection and the H+ stands short for HSPDA+, which means “High-Speed Downlink Packet Access”.
4G LTE Icon
If you are using mobile connection, then this is definitely the icon which you should be familiar with. It is the latest mobile internet connectivity technology 4G. What is most interesting here is that a newer 5G will aim to replace 4G soon as it has now been reported to be active in several places in North America.
The R Icon
This icon stands for the roaming service of your Android device, meaning that your phone has connected to another cell which does not belong to our own network. When you have this icon, you are likely not going to be able to use your internet connection.
The Blank Triangle Icon
Similar to a billiard triangle, this technology is the same as the R symbol, indicating roaming. It shows mostly on older Android devices.
Phone Handset Call Icon with Wi-Fi Icon
If you see this icon, do not worry – you are not in a call. It simply means that your phone is configured so that it can make calls over Wi-Fi. This is a feature that exists in most UK networks to incease the quality of a call, if a phone does not have enough reception “bars” when you are inside your home, for example.
A Phone Headset Icon with Keyboard
This icon means that your TTY accessibility is switched on. It means that if you are deaf or having difficulty in spreaking or hearing, you can type messages, to make the communication easier and possible.
The Star Icon
The star icon does not mean that your phone is world famous, not at all. Instead it aims to tell you that you have turned on a priority mode. This mode allows you to receive only notifications from contacts that you have added as favorites. It is also known as Priority Mode.
The N Icon
Probably the most sought after icon by confused users, it means that you have turned on the NFC communication of your device. It basically means the Near Field Communication. The technology allows you to e transfer data with nearby devices by connecting directly to it via wireless. It can be switched off from the WiFi or connection options.
Two Arrows Inside Rectangles
This icon basically means that your NFC Android Bean is turned on, meaning that you are transferring files via wireless quicker.
Upside Down Pin with Circle
This icon is basically the location icon, meaning that you have turned on either Google location, GPS service or some other type of location services.
A Satellite Dish Icon Transferring Signal
This icon is very similar to the Location icon and it means that the GPS technology on your device is turned on. Both icons can be turned off from the Location settings on your device.
Forbidden Sign (No Parking)
This icon does not have anything to do with your parking skills. It does not forbid anything, instead it is simply a notification that you are in an area that does not have cellular connection and it means that you cannot make calls or send text messages.
The Photo-like Icon
This icon aims to tell you that you have successfully made a screenshot on the screen of your phone by pressing a key combination. It is basically a square with mountain-like landscape inside. It can be removed fairly easily by clearing your notifications.
The Eye Symbol Icon
If you see this icon, do not panic – BigBrother is not watching you, although you never know… The icon can be seen mostly if you have Samsung Android devices. It has a function, known as Smart Stay. This function means that your screen will not go dark when you are looking at it. This interesting feature can be stopped from the settings menu.
Phone Headset with Wi-Fi Signal Icon
If you have come across this icon, do not panic, you are not in an active call and your monthly telephone payment is not going to be sky high. This is the new feature that is used when the phone has set up a Wi-Fi call. This is a relatively new extra that allows users to make phone calls via Wi-Fi instead when the conventional mobile signal is weak.
Square Screen and Wi-Fi Icon
This icon basically means that your Android device is casting via wireless to another device that is connected on the network, like an Android smart TV for example. If you have this icon set up on your TV, then simply go over to YouTube and play a video and it will automatically appear there. This technology is known as Google Chromecast.
Other Icons
Besides these, newer and newer Android icons appear each day with newer and newer ones to appear. We have summed up lists that we have gathered from around the web underneath to provide further information regarding Android Icons:

There is a little white triangle on the upper right corner of the device, it is blank, there is no letter with it. I have tried searching for roaming settings, but there aren’t mobile network settings on this particular tablet device. Data roaming is NOT enabled on the phone.
I think that this symbol means that you may be close to the border of your State or country and may be picking up signal from the cell tower of the other region, which is in roaming itself.
An icon that looks like that for an micro/nano SD card or for a SIM but is not. My note 8 has bot SIM slots in use, the signals icon apear. Can’t upload my screenshot of the icon on this comment. Let me know how to provide you the image for reference.

Hi. This is surest. I’m using gionee F103 android phone I’m seeing an symbol close to the 4g upload download signal that’s unfamiliar to me and I’m unable to see the recent call list if I open the call button. Please help me to sort out the problem.
Hi there. I have a Galaxy S7 and just noticed this icon recently. I haven’t seen it on any lists yet unless I overlooked it. It is a triangle with 2 arrows, up & down, inside of it. Any idea?
Thank you.
I have a symbol on Android and cannot find it anywhere online.
It is a phone hand set with the word LITE coming out from the earpiece.
I can upload a screenshot if required.
hello, i believe that it means that you have LTE enabled, but if it is LITE, it may also mean that your phone is in such a state which optimizes it’s performance so that it runs faster. It could also be a third-party app.
I think that this icon may mean that you have received an sms message of some sort and have not read it yet. When you read the message, it should dissappear.

Hi all, can you please let me know what the highlighted symbol means, looks like a speedometer. It is on Huawei Mate 20 pro and I was unable to find any information on this icon. Thanks.
Hey, it says that the page does not exist. I have not seen this icon, but i do believe that it could be because of an application you might have installed. Check your open apps and see which is active, like a GPS speedometer or something of this type.
Bed icon in upper left corner??? I’ve searched everywhere since April trying to figure out what this isit could be related to hotel search or confirming of some kind??
I briefly saw an icon that looked like a person’s head that was listening, but it immediately disappeared when I pick up my phone. Do you know what this one is? I have a pixel 2XL. Thanks!
Check your weather app from the time and date. Change it to celsius and see if the icon will change. This way you will be able to see if your weather app is causing this. If so, you should disable access to location from the weather app and it should not show you the weather anymore.
It means you have interruptions disabled. When your device is in this mode, you will not receive any visual, audible, or vibration notifications except for alarms you’ve explicitly configured to be allowed.
Don’t know what this icon means, can’t find answer anywhere. It is the 7 in a circle in the upper left hand corner. My phone is not sending sound out so I was wondering if it had anything to do with that.
Huawei P20 Pro is showing an icon that looks like a speedometer. It’s a circle with the arrow pointing around 1 o’clock position.
It appeared overnight and I’ve no idea what it is or how to get rid of it.
This could be because you may have installed some type of network related app, that optimizes your apps’ network usage to make your connection faster. It could also be a GPS speedometer app you may have installed.
The icon os in the upper right side of a galaxy s4 active, it looks like a little padlock with an exclamation point in the center of it. Does anyone know what this means?
I have a XIA OMI A2 Lite and in the status bar at the top is a DOT icon. It is where the normal data indicators are but sometimes there is just a dot. I have data capabilities when the dot is present. Anybody know what this means?
The reason i am asking is because you could have had your phone accidentally connect to a Bluetooth or wireless mouse and this could be the indicator that a mouse is connected.
I have a SIM card icon with an exclamation point in the middle and a lock on the lower right corner. It is to the left of my wifi signal and cell signal icons. Just showed up yesterday after restarting my phone. My voice and data work fine.
Bonjour,
Merci
Hey, this is the icon which tracks how much data usage you generate while browsing the web. You can turn it off from your settings. When you go into the internet, open a page or download a file, your network usage increases and this is the actual speed which is used, this is why it changes from 0 K/S to 160K/S (for example).
I have a very unusual icon in my status bar that no one from Verizon or Kyocera can identify. Can you please email me so I can email you a screenshot of the I can in hopes that you might be able to tell me what it is. I have searched online as well as the Tech’s at Verizon and we can’t find any information on it. I have a Kyocera duraforce pro2 and I have factory reset everything, deleted all apps and even started the phone up in safe mode and it’s still there.
There is an icon at the top of my phone that I have no idea what it is? It’s 3 lines with what looks like a hand with the pointer finger sticking up to the left of the lines and hiding part of the bottom two lines?
I have the same thing on my Kyocera Duraforce pro-2. I can’t find anyone who knows what this is. No one at Verizon or Kyocera knows either. I am on another forum that someone is trying to help me figure it out. If they do I will let you know.
Jeanie, based on what folks from another tech site have found out by emailing Kyocera about this same exact icon on my phone, they said it is a Verizon security app icon that cannot be removed at this time. I am going to go back to Verizon and speak with the tech’s that previously had no idea what it is and show them the message from Kyocera’s technical support and see what they say. I will let you know when I find out more from Verizon. At least this is a start, I myself had no luck when I contacted Kyocera back on January 3rd when the icon first appeared on my phone.
Hi, what is icon third from left,
Telstra branded Alcatel phone.
assuming I can upload an image …
first is zoiper (voip app), second is wifi hotspot, third is ???,
appeared recently but I have no idea why, or what it means,
if I can’t upload image its an open circle with square bottom left corner, with two solid shapes inside circle, one about 1/3 of circle, bottom left, other about 1/4 of circle right edge.
thanks
Looking for the meaning of an icon on the top of my Samsung j7
Can’t paste the image in here, but it is a fat swirl, almost like if you have an oval word bubble with another point on the top pointing the opposite way
It looks like this icon is some sort of settings from your cell phone carrier (ISP). Have you tried calling their support number to ask if they have sent you any data settings to install?
Hi, i have an unknown icon in my bar. It looks like a triangle with an upside down arrow inside. Can you please tell .e what is it and how to turn it off? Thanks
On the left upper corner of my Samsun S7, when I make a call, at the right side of phone icon, for a short time appears a flower icon, something like a daisy. What could that be?
I cannot tell you for sure what it means, but from what I know – the “A” could stand for either Access or Language and Input. The crossed out means that it’s either disabled or forbidden because of a setting or an app doing this. So check for any third-party keyboards or other stuff that is similar.
Two sim cards one in front of the other with 2 ‘H’ on it. What could it be? It appears beside the wifi icon on the upper right side of the screen. I would send you a screenshot but I don’t know where to upload it. Thanks!
On my lg v30 I am all of a sudden seeing a square with the android symbol in the middle of it. It comes on and off the screen periodically now. It never happened before and I haven’t changed my settings. Are You able to identify the symbol?
Have you done an update of your LG before this icon started appearing? The reason i am asking is that either a new app or an update might have made it to start appearing on your phone.
Hello! I was hoping you might know what this new shield icon is. It is blue and black when the screen is locked, just a white silhouette when unlocked, and hasn’t been on my Sonim XP8 before today. No notifications about it, doesn’t match any apps installed, no OS updates (currently runs 7.1.1). Thank you very much! https://ibb.co/7tpwZjf
Hello, Malcolm.
I believe that this is an icon of your embedded Antivirus or some other embedded shield on your phone. Check for any default antivirus programs that come pre-installed and remove them.
Hi there. I have a Galaxy J7 2016 and just noticed this icon recently. I haven’t seen it on any lists yet. It’s like a smart phone icon on the top left corner of my phonr. Any idea?
I have a gray square with 9 dots in it. 3 across and 3 down. Just appeared today on my home screen and cannot remove it or move to another screen. Tried to look it up but no luck. Hopefully you can help. Thanks.
Unfortunately, this looks like some kind of unlock pattern. I think that you may have accidentally locked your phone. Look up on how to do a Factory Reset on your phone and this will be fixed, but first, try to get your data out of the phone (Pics, videos, etc.)
I have an icon of a hand with the index finger pointing in an upwards diagonal direction. Cannot find anything that explains this and it’s new within the last couple of hours. Cannot seem to add a screenshot. Hoping you can help!
Hello, Sonia, it is not easy to help with so little information, but from what it seems, this hand could mean that you have enabled or tinkered with Gestures for your smartphone. Not sure, though.
In the lower right of Google News videos (where I hoped to find a full screen icon) there is a rectangle with a arrow pointing to the upper right corner. It seems to do nothing, nor do I find a way to make the video full screen, nor an icon for casting.
This is for the pen of your Note 9. It probably means that your note is configured to work with the pen or maybe the touch pen currently out of the phone
I’m super new to Android, I’ve had an iPhone since the day they were introduced, however, due to finances I was able to qualify for an Obama phone. Even though I know nothing about Android based phones, I’m sure this one is a cheapie. It acts weird all the time. My question is, there’s a feather looking icon in the upper left corner, it just appeared today. Any ideas?
I’ve had this LG stylo 4 since it came out. In the top right corner a rectangle with 7 dots inside just popped up the other day. 4 dots on top and 3 below within the rectangle. It looks like it could represent a keyboard but I haven’t found any icons to match and the keyboard icon for this phone pops up in the top left corner and looks much more like a keyboard. Let me know if I need to upload a pic.
What does this icon mean. It appears in the status bar next to my alarms icon and Bluetooth icon on the Android system. Icon has three lines possibly stands for text? with what looks like a finger pointing or a figure of a person in front of the three lines
From what you have you have described, it looks like a contact profile of someone. Have you added contact groups or modified a new contact lately? It could also be message related, like an unsent mms or an e-mail saved in “Drafts”.
I have no way to screen shot this one and am not finding anything like it on the net. It looks like a yellow page with three black lines. There is a square-shaped head on the bottom right corner of the page with two small yellow arcs like speech coming from the mouth region of the head. I cannot find this on the LG website nor in the manual. Any help would be appreciated.
Can’t figure out the battery icon that has just started showing up on my LG G8 Thinq.
Can’t get a screen of it. Basically, it’s the battery symbol with a circle inside with an elongated “S” across the circle.
Oh, sorry about that. I think that the Wi-Fi symbol with an S indicates the type of coverage involves. If we are talking about coverage, S means social wi-fi, or some sort of a hotspot or public wi-fi.
i cant see s**t, but i believe they are app-related, meaning individual and caused by some apps you have installed. almost always the system icons by android are on the right, but the app icons are on the left so… check your apps, maybe there is the answer
I suddenly started seeing a new symbol when I expand my notifications. My phone recently had an upgrade to Android 9.0. The new symbol is in the upper left corner of the uploaded picture. It looks like a recycling triangle with up & down arrows. https://ibb.co/pPYds56
This app says it is “weather” and “weather forecast” but it just appeared, is sending notifications, and can’t be disabled. Additionally, since it only appears on the list of apps under notifications and not on the home screen, I can’t find it to delete it. I also can’t find it anywhere online. Any help will be appreciated. https://ibb.co/6tbjvvG
I have a Nokia 1 – Android 9 Pie. Lately I observed this icon (remarked in yellow; the “1” besides included) I´ve never seen before. It desapears when I set WIFI function off. Can you help me in finding out it´s meaning? Many thanks! – Daniel
I recently began to see ((N)) or <> symbol in the upper left corner.
It appears more often when the phone is in sleep mode for a long time, but sometimes when I use it.
I don’t even have time to do anything and do not have time to take a screenshot. Because he appears for a second. And I’m sure this is a system icon. Because I have few applications and I do not install any trash.
This is definitely not nfc, since nfc is in the right corner and looks different. I thought it was Google nearby, but nearby was turned off.
Please help, this is very strange.
Asus ZenFone ze620kl, Android 9
The text is a little deleted upon publication. In general, the letter N, around which there are two brackets on each side, they are either round or sharper
Hi can someone plz tell me what this is? It was in the top left by the time on a Samsung Galaxy s9. Is it a app notification? If so, what app? I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now… hope someone can help. Thanks
Buenas. A mí me aparece cada un tiempo (entre las 1am-5am) en la barra un cubo, sin letras ni nada. Lo apretó y no se abre ni desaparece. Solo está unos segundos. Tengo un LG k8
Usually ciricle appears when you are recording something. But i do not believe that this is the case. These icons do not appear on Android, so it could be an app.
Ciao, mentre stavo leggendo le notizie il telefono ha vibrato brevemente ed è comparso il segnale di geolocalizzazione per qualche secondo e poi è scomparso tutto. cosa vuol dire? Ciao Grazie
Vale
this icon https://ibb.co/Vj9PB0J comes up every now and then. I’ve the feeling is something Samsung related but can’t pin point it.
Does anyone know what it is precisely?
Hello, could you tell me what this symbol means? It appeared on the top of my phone screen (android). It’s a V next to something that resembles a network icon, but I didn’t find it on your list: https://ibb.co/GPX4Y6x
https://ibb.co/Wc28Xjx
Hallo. Können Sie mir sagen, welcher Funktion, welchem Programm, oder welcher App dieses Symbol gehört? Ist links oben in der Statusleiste zu sehen bei Samsung Galaxy mit Android.
Don’t know what the icon between the fb icons is?
there is no place to put the snapshot
Hello, Could you post a link with the snapshot, I will have it approved after I check it. Thanks.
Let me know how to provide you the image for reference.
hey, sorry for the late response. Try uploading here; https://uploadfiles.io/
Hello TC, you can upload your photo using https://imgbb.com/ and then copy the URL after which send it to me here.
Hey guys the misses has a random notification symbol showing up on her phone, not too sure what it is but any help would be appreciated.
can you tell me how does it look ?
Hey sorry I thought I added image https://ibb.co/meyfbJ it is the symbol next to the call notification.
Hello, it seems as if this is the notification for low battery, but it might be something else.. I will check it and get back to you tomorrow. Can you tell if this notification appears when the battery is low?

Hello, Amos
I am not entirely sure, but this icon may be the “recent actors” icon. Can you please upload an image and link it here so I can answer?

Any idea?
Thank you.
Hello,
It appears that this Icon belongs to your Samsung’s Data Saver Mode.
I have a symbol on Android and cannot find it anywhere online.
It is a phone hand set with the word LITE coming out from the earpiece.
I can upload a screenshot if required.
Many thanks,
Bruce
hello, i believe that it means that you have LTE enabled, but if it is LITE, it may also mean that your phone is in such a state which optimizes it’s performance so that it runs faster. It could also be a third-party app.
I have an icon that keeps appearing in the left hand corner. It’s shaped like a sales tag, white with three dots in the box in a line.
I think that this icon may mean that you have received an sms message of some sort and have not read it yet. When you read the message, it should dissappear.
In the upper left corner, there is a triangle pointing to the right with a check mark inside it.
This could mean that you have installed an app successfully.

There is one up arrow running parallel to a down arrow and both are inside a triangle
Hello, this is the Data Saver mode. It shows usually on Samsung devices.
Bed icon in upper left corner??? I’ve searched everywhere since April trying to figure out what this isit could be related to hotel search or confirming of some kind??
As far as I know, this could be related to a booking you have made for a hotel from an app and the app is aiming to notify you.
The symbol is representing a triangle and inside it one downward arrow and one upward arrow are present and the triangle please help me ASAP
This is the Data Saver. You can turn it off from your Data menu in Settings
I briefly saw an icon that looked like a person’s head that was listening, but it immediately disappeared when I pick up my phone. Do you know what this one is? I have a pixel 2XL. Thanks!
I am not sure, but this is for people with listening problems and could be related to some sort of mode that is for deaf people.
What is the triangle symbol on my notification bar
I believe that your phone is in Roaming mode, that is what it could mean.
Hi I was wondering what the icon is .on the left of the 45. I thought my apps were closed I was wondering what that was.

Check your weather app from the time and date. Change it to celsius and see if the icon will change. This way you will be able to see if your weather app is causing this. If so, you should disable access to location from the weather app and it should not show you the weather anymore.
I’ve got one that looks like a finger pointing at three horizontal lines. Any ideas?
Can you tell what does it means of *stop left hand* icon shown on my notifications bar? And how to fix it?
It means you have interruptions disabled. When your device is in this mode, you will not receive any visual, audible, or vibration notifications except for alarms you’ve explicitly configured to be allowed.
How do I remove the Chromecast notification from ever showing up? Can’t seem to figure it out.
https://www.howtogeek.com/282388/how-to-remove-chromecasts-notifications-from-your-android-phone/ here is a tutorial for that
Don’t know what this icon means, can’t find answer anywhere. It is the 7 in a circle in the upper left hand corner. My phone is not sending sound out so I was wondering if it had anything to do with that.
It looks like a battery icon from some battery app you installed.
Huawei P20 Pro is showing an icon that looks like a speedometer. It’s a circle with the arrow pointing around 1 o’clock position.

mi appare alla sinistra della barra di stato del mio samsung J7 un cerchio con all’interno mezzo busto di omino…. che icona è?
Me aparecen dos corazones en la barra de notificaciones
Hello, i believe these hearts are likes from Twitter or Tinder.
The icon os in the upper right side of a galaxy s4 active, it looks like a little padlock with an exclamation point in the center of it. Does anyone know what this means?
I believe that it is some sort of account lock problem. Try turning off all your third-party apps to see if it is still there.
Bonjour j’ai un triangle avec deux flèches dedans qui apparaît dans ma berra d’état pourriez vous me dire à quoi cela correspond il.
Cordialement
I think this is the Data Saver icon.

Check your weather app and change it from Farehneit to Celsius to see if this is the Weather app.
I believe that it is some sort of account lock problem. Try turning off all your third-party apps to see if it is still there.
Wondering what the rectangular icon with the sharp squiggly line going through it is.

Hi, Bailey, by any chance, have you added a wireless mouse or purchased one anytime soon?
The reason i am asking is because you could have had your phone accidentally connect to a Bluetooth or wireless mouse and this could be the indicator that a mouse is connected.
Nope! No new connections. Even turned my Bluetooth off to make sure nothing was connected and the icon was still there.
Try factory resetting your phone. I hope the icon disappears by then.
What does thai icon means????

On my call log a log with unknown and there was A in a circle next to the time.what does this mean?

I have a SIM card icon with an exclamation point in the middle and a lock on the lower right corner. It is to the left of my wifi signal and cell signal icons. Just showed up yesterday after restarting my phone. My voice and data work fine.

I don’t know what the symbol on the left of wifi is. It has just recently appeared.
Hi Jane, i would be happy if you provide an image of the icon. Thank you :)

A sign of sim card chip is showing on my notification bar of my android mobile.
It could be because of:
Memory card notification.
Sim card notification.
Sim card incompatibility (not the right size and doesnt connect).
Factory locked phone.
Hi… i got this icon on the top left corner of my samsung android phone that often pop up for few seconds and gone.
https://ibb.co/hH1hHhp
Do you know what it is?
I figured it out, it’s google location sharing updating your location. So whoever you share your location with on Google is checking your location.
Hi, i have an unknown icon in my bar. It looks like a triangle with an upside down arrow inside. Can you please tell .e what is it and how to turn it off? Thanks
Hello, i believe this is the Data Saver mode. You can turn it off from going in Settings>Data and switching Data Saver off.
On the left upper corner of my Samsun S7, when I make a call, at the right side of phone icon, for a short time appears a flower icon, something like a daisy. What could that be?
This is because of some sort of ECO mode that saves you power or an app of this type.
I have the forbidden symbol with the letter A – I’m trying to figure out what it means on Samsung galaxy s9
Thanks!
If you have a Dual sim phone, this could indicate that one of the cards has HSPDA enabled. If the H’s are two then i do not know exactly what this is.
Hola, en las fotos me aparece 3 barritas en la parte inferior izquierda sobre la foto, que podrá ser?
On my lg v30 I am all of a sudden seeing a square with the android symbol in the middle of it. It comes on and off the screen periodically now. It never happened before and I haven’t changed my settings. Are You able to identify the symbol?
Have you done an update of your LG before this icon started appearing? The reason i am asking is that either a new app or an update might have made it to start appearing on your phone.
Lowercase “i” with a danger symbol over top of it. What does it mean?
Actually, never mind, I figured out what it meant. Please disregard this comment.
okay, could you please share what it is for others with the same problem to see ?
Hi, I have a square with a phone in the bottom left corner… any thoughts?
It is very likely that this is a shortcut to quick calling someone or some type of quick access to some option in your phone.
Any idea?
Hello, Wael,
I think it could be some sort of silent mode or vibrating mode enabled.
I have a screenshot of an icon but not sure how to upload it. Its 2 arrows parallel but at an angle with a circle below and a heart in the circle.
Hello, could it be a fitness tracker of some sort?
In the lower right of Google News videos (where I hoped to find a full screen icon) there is a rectangle with a arrow pointing to the upper right corner. It seems to do nothing, nor do I find a way to make the video full screen, nor an icon for casting.
Try to do an update or restart your phone to default configuration from settings after backing up your files.
What is the chain link symbol nxt to wifi? Using huawei p10 and media pad. Hotspotting.
It probably means that someone has connected to your Hotspot, likely your device.
Hi,
My mobile shows thess icons what are these
I keep seeing this icon on my unlocked Note 9 (running Pie)
https://ibb.co/0D42qS7
This is for the pen of your Note 9. It probably means that your note is configured to work with the pen or maybe the touch pen currently out of the phone
I’m super new to Android, I’ve had an iPhone since the day they were introduced, however, due to finances I was able to qualify for an Obama phone. Even though I know nothing about Android based phones, I’m sure this one is a cheapie. It acts weird all the time. My question is, there’s a feather looking icon in the upper left corner, it just appeared today. Any ideas?
Hey Teri, This is the battery saver :)
Hi, I forgot to tell you it’s an ANS and Assurance is the carrier.
Yes, upload here https://imgbb.com/.
Also, have you recently paired the phone with a BT keyboard or other BT device? (BT – bluetooth)
Salve, io ho un samsung galaxy A3 e co.parsa un icona a forma di triangolo con dentro 2 freccine una verso l’alto e una verso l’alto cosa significa??
Hi. What is the meaning of a triangle next to some if my text messages (right by the time stamp)?
I think this is roaming-related.
Me aparece un icono que dice HD en un cuadradito
What does this icon mean. It appears in the status bar next to my alarms icon and Bluetooth icon on the Android system. Icon has three lines possibly stands for text? with what looks like a finger pointing or a figure of a person in front of the three lines
From what you have you have described, it looks like a contact profile of someone. Have you added contact groups or modified a new contact lately? It could also be message related, like an unsent mms or an e-mail saved in “Drafts”.
Posting for a friend
She has a green witch/gnome/bearded man icon at the top of her screen. Any ideas?
Could you please upload it here: https://imgbb.com/
I have no way to screen shot this one and am not finding anything like it on the net. It looks like a yellow page with three black lines. There is a square-shaped head on the bottom right corner of the page with two small yellow arcs like speech coming from the mouth region of the head. I cannot find this on the LG website nor in the manual. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, Clyde III,
This is the first time I hear of such Icon. Please upload it here: https://imgbb.com/
Can’t figure out the battery icon that has just started showing up on my LG G8 Thinq.
Can’t get a screen of it. Basically, it’s the battery symbol with a circle inside with an elongated “S” across the circle.
Can you tell me what is your phone model at least?
What is this?

I am unsure of what the symbols on the wifi signal is
Has anyone seen this and how do you fix it

excuse me, but the link returns not found
Sorry I didn’t type the link in properly
I am unsure of what the symbols on the wifi signal is
Has anyone seen this and how do you fix it
https://ibb.co/grhKjxY
Oh, sorry about that. I think that the Wi-Fi symbol with an S indicates the type of coverage involves. If we are talking about coverage, S means social wi-fi, or some sort of a hotspot or public wi-fi.
https://ibb.co/J2Kkmn9
What are these three icons referring to? Samsung galaxy j7
i cant see s**t, but i believe they are app-related, meaning individual and caused by some apps you have installed. almost always the system icons by android are on the right, but the app icons are on the left so… check your apps, maybe there is the answer
I suddenly started seeing a new symbol when I expand my notifications. My phone recently had an upgrade to Android 9.0. The new symbol is in the upper left corner of the uploaded picture. It looks like a recycling triangle with up & down arrows. https://ibb.co/pPYds56
Oh yea, check the above comments. There are users with the same problem. We believe that its roaming issue.
Step 1: Save all your data somewhere else or in the cloud.
Step 2: Remember your settings.
Step 3: Factory reset your phone. (google your device type + factory reset and you shall be fine) .
I have a Nokia 1 – Android 9 Pie. Lately I observed this icon (remarked in yellow; the “1” besides included) I´ve never seen before. It desapears when I set WIFI function off. Can you help me in finding out it´s meaning? Many thanks! – Daniel
Maybe its NFC-related?
N is for NFC – check it in google ;)

Hey Ajay, what is your phone make and model?
Using OPPO, I can’t work out what this icon is on the top right screen….https://ibb.co/Fx546cc
I believe it indicates that you tried to send SMS or another message, but it was not sent.
This showed up on my Moto Z recently. Anyone have a clue?
Thank You

Hi can someone plz tell me what this is? It was in the top left by the time on a Samsung Galaxy s9. Is it a app notification? If so, what app? I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now… hope someone can help. Thanks
Hello, this icon is 99% app-related. Check your apps, it could be some trigger icon from an app
I have a triangle with an exclamation point in it on my text log. It says the text is delivered. What can this be?
Possibly a roaming warning or a data warning
Bonjour un matin mon téléphone a émis un appel d’urgence je ne sais même pas comment…et depuis j’ai ce logo https://ibb.co/pX0ywWr

Hi all,
Somebody knows what does it mean the circle in the screenshoot below in the status /notification bar?
https://ibb.co/7NR7y7Y
Usually ciricle appears when you are recording something. But i do not believe that this is the case. These icons do not appear on Android, so it could be an app.
In the top left corner of the handset in the screenshot there is a number 3. What is this for?
Could you upload a screenshot?
Ciao, mentre stavo leggendo le notizie il telefono ha vibrato brevemente ed è comparso il segnale di geolocalizzazione per qualche secondo e poi è scomparso tutto. cosa vuol dire? Ciao Grazie

Hi all,
Samsung A3 2017 here,
this icon https://ibb.co/Vj9PB0J comes up every now and then. I’ve the feeling is something Samsung related but can’t pin point it.
Does anyone know what it is precisely?
Thanks,
Al
Solved!
It’s Google Maps saying “Updating your shared location.” through android’s Voice over.
I always keep my cell muted so never heard it.

Hi Ventsislav,
Lately I noticed a notification icon in my android phone with MIUI 11, that is
a square icon with a dot in the upper right side.
Do you know where it belongs or how to get rid of it ?
Please have a look of the icon, in the following MEGA link:

Hi! Please! https://ibb.co/ZW2HqkS
