Malware researchers have classified eFast as a potentally unwanted program with browser hijacking capabilities.

As a result of the program sneaking into the system, advertisements may be generated – pop-ups and banners with texts such as:
“Powered by eFast_Browser”, “Brought to you by eFast_Browser”, “Ads by eFast_Browser”.
The advertisements may not be malicious but they may redirect the user to predefined pages:
- Websites crafted for social engineering scams like phishing.
- Websites prompting the user to give away personal information, including credit card details.

eFast Web Browser Characteristics and Distribution
The suspicious program has most likely been mentioned in the installer of a freeware product downloaded from freeware/shareware providers (bundling). However, by quickly going through the setup process, the user may have skipped the option to de-select eFast. The program may also be available for download on the very same freeware/shareware pages. It may have a luring description, tricking the user into believing that it will enhance his online browsing or shopping experience. Such products are usually crafted with the sole purpose to collect user information.
Data collected by potentially unwanted, ad-supported and hijacker programs may include any or all of the following:
- IP address.
- Unique identifier number.
- Configuration settings.
- OS information.
- Used browsers.
- Software usage patterns.
In addition, the developers of eFast and similar software usually are teamed with numerous affiliate and advertising partners. This means that the data collected during the usage of eFast may be given or shared with other third parties. Besides the privacy issues brought by this type of software, browser hijackers and PUPs are also known to change the browser’s default settings.
As a result, the default search page, home page, new tab page and sometimes error page will be changed according to eFast’s preferences. eFast can also add a scheduled task and a desktop icon. Because of its dubious features, the program should be removed from the system.
eFast Removal Options

Step 2: Remove eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser from your browser
Select the “Add-ons” icon from the menu
Select eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser and click “Remove”
After eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser is removed, restart Mozilla Firefox by closing it from the red “X” in the top right corner and start it again.
Select eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser to remove, and then click ‘Disable’. A pop-up window will appear to inform you that you are about to disable the selected toolbar, and some additional toolbars might be disabled as well. Leave all the boxes checked, and click ‘Disable’.
After eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser has been removed, restart Internet Explorer by closing it from the red ‘X’ in the top right corner and start it again.
From the drop menu select ‘Preferences’
In the new window select ‘Extensions’
Click once on eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser
A pop-up window will appear asking for confirmation to uninstall eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser. Select ‘Uninstall’ again, and the eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser will be removed.

Step 3: Start Your PC in Safe Mode to Remove eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser.
Removing eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser from Windows XP, Vista, 7 systems:
1. Remove all CDs and DVDs, and then Restart your PC from the “Start” menu.
– For PCs with a single operating system: Press “F8” repeatedly after the first boot screen shows up during the restart of your computer. In case the Windows logo appears on the screen, you have to repeat the same task again.
– For PCs with multiple operating systems: Тhe arrow keys will help you select the operating system you prefer to start in Safe Mode. Press “F8” just as described for a single operating system.
3. As the “Advanced Boot Options” screen appears, select the Safe Mode option you want using the arrow keys. As you make your selection, press “Enter“.
4. Log on to your computer using your administrator account
While your computer is in Safe Mode, the words “Safe Mode” will appear in all four corners of your screen.
Removing eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser from Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 systems:
Whilst holding down Shift button, click on Power and then click on Restart.
A menu will appear upon reboot. You should choose Safe Mode by pressing its corresponding number and the machine will restart and boot into Safe Mode so you can scan for and remove eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser.
Step 4: Remove eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser automatically by downloading an advanced anti-malware program.
To clean your computer you should download an updated anti-malware program on a safe PC and then install it on the affected computer in offline mode. After that you should boot into safe mode and scan your computer to remove all eFast, Ads by eFast_Browser associated objects.
