ElementSignal – What Exactly Does It Do
In a similar way to the recently detected SearchMultiplyResults, TravelBook and MegaUnit apps, the ElementSignal software may also use suspicious tactics to end up on your Mac without your knowledge:
- If it has been included (bundled) in the installers of other freeware.
- In case you have added it as a result of some suspicious site advertising it.
- If another adware or malware has downloaded it by force on your Mac.
ElementSignal could use different types of tracking technologies once it ends up on your Mac. These include cookies of different kinds, pixels, tags and others of these types. These are small files that may exist on your Mac and may be difficult to remove unless you know where to see them. The main reason they exist is to obtain different information for advertising purposes, such as:
- The bookmarked and favourite sites.
- The history of your web browsing.
- Which pages are most often visited.
- What you type, your mouse movements and clicks.
The main activity of ElementSignal on your Mac may involve showing different ads without your permission, such as:
- Ad-supported results when you search something.
- Redirect adverts.
- Banner ads.
- Push notification pop-ups.
- Pop-up ads.
- Text ads, highlighted on the sites you visit.
These advertisements may often lead to different dangerous websites, such as:
- Scammer websites.
- Fraudulent tech support scams.
- Phishing domains.
- Domains that may have viruses.
- Fake software download URLs.
- Redirect loop schemes of long URLs.
- Fake survey scams.
This is the main reason why applications, like ElementSignal are considered to be indirectly harmful to your computer and should be removed.
