22Find is an online search site that is considered a potentially unwanted program and browser hijacker. 22Find aims to provide the user with search functionalities and a toolbar with multiple links to other popular sites, such as Yahoo, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc. 22Find usually gets in the user’s system through bundled downloads of free of charge programs and applications. 22Find is a legitimate website, but a lot of users report that they have been unwillingly redirected to its homepage. Although 22Find is not classified as a high-level threat for your computer, its removal is recommended by security experts, because of the possible infections your system may get exposed to when you click on the links provided in the search results.

How Does 22Find Affect Your Browsing Activities?

Once installed 22Find alters the settings of your current browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer), changing your default search engine, new tab page and homepage to 22find.com. Browser hijackers and other potentially unwanted programs and applications often perform system changes that may seem to appear without the computer user’s consent. In fact, none of them has been installed unwillingly. As they come bundled together with freeware and shareware, there’s always a notification about their installation on the user’s PC. Paying more attention when downloading and installing software, is recommended in order to avoid possible security threats later on.

When it comes to the security of your data, you should keep in mind that:

  • 22Find uses cookies to track your Internet browsing activities
  • 22Find collects device-specific information
  • 22Find processes personal information on their servers all around the world

If the information they collect is being shared with third parties is not clearly stated anywhere, but it is a common practice among websites that generate revenue by online advertisements and sponsored links.
