Social media pages are often used as fishing (or should we say phishing?) bate in various scamming scenarios. Most recently, we have seen several attempts by scammers involving Facebook and WhatsApp.

And as it seems, not a day goes by without a new endeavor to trick users into giving away personal information. One of the latest scams yet again targets Facebook users and employs phishing tactics.
Personal information targeted by scammers includes the user’s login information, security question and payment card details.
The scam tries to persuade users their Facebook account has been reported and will be disabled, unless they verify it by entering login details.

Then, crooks ask for upgrade on the credit card information:
Even though the pages resemble Facebook, only one close look at the URL of the page is enough to notice it has nothing to do with the actual social network.

If you land on such a scamming page, it’s crucial to report it immediately so that other users don’t fall victims to it. Such pages are taken down almost instantly but new scams emerge as quickly.
