AVC Plus is a rogue antivirus program part of the Breviax/FakeVimes rogue family. AVC Plus is promoted as a legitimate security program but its main purpose is to generate profit to its creators. AVC Plus displays fake security notifications and virus alerts on the affected machine in order to scare the users into buying the licensed version of the rogue antivirus software. Since the alerts have no value whatsoever, computer users are advised against purchasing the program. Like many other rogue antivirus tools, AVC Plus affects mainly PCs running Windows.
What Does AVC Plus Do?
As AVC Plus infiltrates the system, it performs a fake system scan and displays a number of notifications and security alerts that warn the user about numerous security threats detected on the compromised PC. If the user wants to remove them, he is urged to buy the full version of the program. The full version of AVC Plus promises to protect the infected computer from other infections that may threaten the system in the future.
The security alerts displayed by AVC Plus are designed to lead the user into believing that the PC is exposed to severe security risk and he should fix it right away. The messages AVC Plus shows contain the following information:
