For the majority of the Internet users, the browser is their connection to the rest of the Web. It is used to navigate to various webpages, allows users to follow links, and helps them explore basically everything the Web has to offer.
The experts, who design the browsers we use every day, update them constantly. They add new features, change their look, improve their performance, but most importantly – they improve browser security. This is crucial, because cyber crooks and malicious websites can take advantage of security flaws in browsers and distribute various harmful programs and viruses to the user’s computer. Regular browser updates help security problems, if and when such are detected, and also improve your PC’s resistance to those kinds of attacks.
Here is how to keep your browser up-to-date.
Internet Explorer
Microsoft has its own Windows update feature to keep Internet Explorer up-to-date. If you will be installing the latest updates from Microsoft, you should be using the latest version of Internet Explorer.
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox downloads updates automatically and reminds you to install them, when they are available. To see if Firefox is up-to-date you need to open the File Menu, the click Help. Then select About Firefox in order to view the About Mozilla Firefox section. In case you are running the latest Firefox version, a message will be displayed, informing you that your browser is updated. If not, you can always download the latest version of Firefox from the official web-page.
Google Chrome
As the updates for Google Chrome are released to the public, this browser will update automatically. The updates can be seen on the Menu when they are available. To make sure that you are using the newest version of Google Chrome, click on the Menu and select About. In case your browser is up-to-date, you will see a check mark and a message informing you that the browser is updated.
