Live-Secure Redirect – How Did I Get It

Live-Secure is an application that is similar to other search software recently seen, like Myauto.site, Searcheeboo and and StreamTopSearch.

These programs often replicate via one of the following methods:

  • If you have added it from some suspicious site advertising it via pop-up or redirect to include it.
  • If it has been automatically installed by some other adware you already have on your computer.

If this software is bundled alongside the installation package of some other program that you may have recently download it, there is a strong chance that it could be present in one of the installation steps, where it is advertised as a free extra, like shown in the image below:

Live-Secure Adware – What Does It Do?

Once Live-Secure it’s up and running in your computer system, it may begin to show you advertisements of different kinds, for example:

  • Pop-up ads.
  • Redirect adverts.
  • Banner ads.
  • Push notification pop-ups.
  • Text ads, highlighted on the sites you visit.
  • Ad-supported results when you search something.

A lot of these advertisements may lead to websites that they use a lot of different kinds of cookies and other tracking objects:

cookies-tracking

The primary purpose of these trackers is to get different kinds of details about your online activities, presumably to improve the services of this software. In reality do not know for how long they will be on your computer and what information they will gather, for example they may get the following details:

  • IP and Mac addresses.
  • Your bookmarked websites.
  • Which pages you have visited.
  • Your mouse clicks.
  • Sites that you have bookmarked on your computer.
  • What searches you have made.
  • Where you click online and your mouse movement.
  • What you have visited.
  • Your mouse movements.
  • The browsing history from your browser.
  • The browsing history of your web browser.

Is Live-Secure a Virus?

Live-Secure is a browser hijacker. This makes it not a virus, but just as dangerous as one, because some of the advertisement it shows may take you to risky domains, for example:

  • Domains that may have viruses.
  • Scammer websites.
  • Fake survey scams.
  • Fraudulent tech support scams.
  • Redirect loop schemes of long URLs.
  • Fake software download URLs.

How Does Live-Secure Work?

Once installed, Live-Secure can collect data using trackers. This data is about your web browsing habits, such as the websites you visit and the search terms you use. It is then used to target you with ads or to sell your information to third parties.

Live-Secure can also download other malicious software onto your computer, such as viruses and spyware, which can be used to steal your personal information and show risky ads, that may redirect to virus sites or scams.

Is Live-Secure Malware?

The truth is that PUPs (adware, browser hijackers) are not viruses, but may be just as dangerous since they may show you and redirect you to malware websites and scam pages.

Many security experts classify potentially unwanted programs as malware. This is because of the unwanted effects that PUPs can cause, such as displaying intrusive ads and collecting user data without the user’s knowledge or consent.
