PlayThru Player is a program that offers users the opportunity to view online videos without using their browser. This may seem like a helpful application to some users. However, this program is classified as adware. This means that it will start presenting numerous ads whenever you browse the web. Does this sound familiar? Well, it should as PlayThru Player is a clone of Skyrocket Player. You will see that both of the programs have almost identical websites. It goes without saying that we do not recommend having any of them on your PC. Adware programs will cause you nothing but headaches. If you have PlayThru Player on your computer, remove it right away.
What Does PlayThru Player Do?
It is very doubtful that PlayThru Player will deliver any of the services it promises. One thing is for sure, however: that it will start generating numerous ads immediately after it has been installed on your computer. It will do this by attaching an add-on to your browser. It can do this on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. The ads it shows will be labeled as “PlayThru Player Ads,” “By PlayThru Player,” or “Ads by PlayThru Player.” So you will definitely be able to recognize them. These ads can be presented as pop-ups, banners, or in other forms.
How Did PlayThru Player Enter My PC?
PlayThru Player is available for download on its official web page. However, even if you have not downloaded it yourself, it can still get installed on your system. Like other adware programs, it does this through bundled downloads. This means that it is attached to installers of other free programs. This way it can sneak pass inattentive users and get installed without being noticed. This trick is often used by unwanted programs. To prevent this, make sure to always select the Advanced/Custom installation method offered in the install wizard. This way you can prevent any additional programs from entering your PC.
What Is the Danger of PlayThru Player?
The fact that it is annoying is not what you should worry about. The really troubling part is that this program can expose your system to virtual risks. Some of the advertisements that it shows you may actually lead to unreliable websites. This is a common problem with adware. The advertised web pages are not reviewed. Cyber criminals take advantage of this and use these applications to promote their malicious web pages. If you end up on such a page, your system can face dire consequences. If infected, you can expect to have troubles operating it. What is even worse is the fact that all of your sensitive information will be targeted and acquired by cyber criminals. This is why it is not recommended that you have PlayThru Player on your computer.
How Can I Remove PlayThru Player?
PlayThru Player can be removed with a simple uninstall. All you have to do is go to Control Panel, access the list of programs, find the unwanted application, and remove it. This is the easy part. There is some possibility that there are other adware programs on your computer. There may even be malicious ones. If you want your computer to be protected at all times, it is best to have a reliable antimalware application running on it. This will rid it of all intruders. It will also secure your system, so that no intruders are able to infiltrate it again. This way you can be sure that your sensitive data is safe.
