Have you been interrupted by random advertisements such as pop-ups and banners saying ‘brought by Groove Dock’? Groove Dock is an ad-supported browser extension that may have been downloaded in a bundled installer. Groove Dock has an official website but cannot be downloaded from there. Thus, its primary distribution technique is bundling. Bundled software is often regarded as adware and PUA (potentially unwanted application). Continue reading to find out more about bundling.
Groove Dock Аpplication Risk Evaluation
Groove Dock is not malicious but it may cause issues on the system. First, ad-supported software is known to generate intrusive and annoying advertisements such as:
- Banners
- In-text ads
- Pop-up windows
- Pop-under windows
Additionally, adware can turn random page texts into hyperlinks and cause unwanted browser redirects to predefined pages. Ironically enough, Groove Dock is advertised as an application that improves the browsing experience but it only compromises it.
Furthermore, what is more troublesome with adware is its data collection policy. Groove Dock is not an exception of the rule.
Let’s have a look at its Privacy Policy::
As visible, Groove Dock uses a range of tracking technologies such as:
- Browser cookies
- Web and DOM storage data
- Adobe Flash cookies
- Pixels
- Beacons
- JavaScript
- Unique identifiers
NOTE
Groove Dock affiliate partners that support its software can use their own cookies and tracking technologies.
Collected data consists of personally identifiable and non-identifiable details (PII and non-PII). Information about your device and operating system is collected, in accordance with any personal and browsing data.
Groove Dock PUP Removal Options
The good news is that adware can be removed manually from the system. The bad news is that bundling makes it harder. Because the PUP may have been bundled with other freeware, complete removal may require the uninstallation of more unwanted programs.
We have provided a solution for everybody. If you feel confident you can remove the PUA yourself, follow the instructions below. In the end, checking the system via AV scanner is always recommended.

Here is a method in few easy steps to remove that program. No matter if you are using Windows 8, 7, Vista or XP, those steps will get the job done. Dragging the program or its folder to the recycle bin can be a very bad decision. If you do that, bits and pieces of the program get left behind, and that can lead to unstable work of your PC, mistakes with the file type associations and other unpleasant activities. The proper way to get a program off your computer is to Uninstall it. To do that:
Select the program that you want to remove, and press “Uninstall” (fig.3).
Follow the instructions above and you will successfully uninstall Groove Dock.
Step 2: Remove Groove Dock from your browser

Select Groove Dock and click “Remove”
After Groove Dock is removed, restart Mozilla Firefox by closing it from the red “X” in the top right corner and start it again.
Select Groove Dock to remove, and then click ‘Disable’. A pop-up window will appear to inform you that you are about to disable the selected toolbar, and some additional toolbars might be disabled as well. Leave all the boxes checked, and click ‘Disable’.
After Groove Dock has been removed, restart Internet Explorer by closing it from the red ‘X’ in the top right corner and start it again.
Open the drop menu by clicking on the sprocket icon in the top right corner.
From the drop menu select ‘Preferences’
In the new window select ‘Extensions’
Click once on Groove Dock
Click ‘Uninstall’
A pop-up window will appear asking for confirmation to uninstall Groove Dock. Select ‘Uninstall’ again, and the Groove Dock will be removed.
