VixSpeedup – Activity Report
VixSpeedup is an app that belongs to the PC Accelerate Pro family of rogue applications. Once it enters your computer it may begin to run automatically and perform scans that almost always detect something is wrong with your computer, even though this may not be true at all:
VixSpeedup can be spread onto computers by being downloaded from a website that may pose as a fake error page on your browser. Usually, such websites often end up being on your browser due to an adware or a browser hijacker of some sort. These apps often spread ads on your computer with the idea of downloading such dubious programs.
Another way VixSpeedup could have entered your PC is very likely if this software has been added to it as a result of bundling. This means that VixSpeedup could have been included and advertised as an “optional offer” in the setup of another free app you could have recently installed on your Mac. Such programs often end up being various freeware, like converters, video players, and other useful apps.
When VixSpeedup is installed on your computer, it may situate its files in the following directories of your local disk:
Then, VixSpeedup could begin to run automated scans of your computer and will detect errors. These errors may not even be actual errors, but the way it looks, it may fool even experienced users that they must fix their computer. And to fix it, VixSpeedup wants you to upgrade to the full version, which costs a lot of money and may enroll you into a subscription scheme. Such schemes often drain money from your account on a regular basis (annually, monthly). And to top that out, this software may also ask you to call “tech support” if you have any questions, which could lead you to people that may only be after your money.
These are the reasons to consider removing VixSpeedup from your computer.
