p15_0000There have been recent reports about a shady spyware remover, going by the name WareOut. It is essentially a security software aiming to eliminate any threats from the computer it’s been installed on. This program is reported by security investigators to be using suspicious practices in order to display non-existent problems on user PCs. This could be done with the purpose of getting the user to pay for more expensive anti-malware solutions or a full version of the software. It is also believed to tamper with the Windows Registries with the probable purpose of causing various problems on user PCs.

How Did I Get WareOut?

You may have installed this rogue antivirus type of software by believing it is a legitimate program. Some inexperienced users fall in these antivirus traps, by seeing fake virus alert pop-ups and clicking on them which may prompt the download of programs, like this one. Also, you may have gotten it via bundling – the combination of two or more programs in the same installer. This strategy is done to generate profits to third-party sites. It works like this:

1-You want to download your favorite program, and you search it online.

2-You find a third-party site that offers it for free and download it from that site.

3-The installer of the program may include WareOut as a ‘free extra’ in the installer.

WareOut – What Is It Capable Of?

This program is believed to be a good mean to protect yourself against cyber intrusions. In reality, however, the software may deceive the user by employing legitimate-like practices to convince him into believing several different threats infected the computer. By using the fear in users, WareOut may convince users into paying for a full or so-called licensed version which should be better in removing the threats than the non-licensed one. Besides that, security experts believe that this program may drop such files on the computer, claiming it removed them when in fact it may be the source of them. Such strategy could be very dangerous for the user PC and information.

More so, this program may make itself non-detectable by other antivirus programs since initially it may not be classified as a problem to the computer or as a low-risk one. This program is not destructive to user data, but may feature content that is. This is why security investigators strongly advise users not to rely on it for protection because it may not be created with that priority in mind.
