What Is Custom Look Adware
Custom Look may appear like a legitimate application, but many refer to it as an adware or a browser hijacker. Either way, the main purpose of apps, like Custom Look is likely to show tons of ads for profit. These ads are shown without checkups to which sites they will lead you to and this is how you may end up being redirected to a risky website, like a scam or malicious URL. This is the primary reason why apps, like Custom Look adware, are not classified as a virus, but rather an indirect threat.

What Does Custom Look Adware Do?
Custom Look is your typical ad-supported application. It is fairly similar in terms of activity to other such apps we have recently covered, like Img Preview, ProtocolPort and Ad Video Blocker.
Custom Look adware is an app that has likely been created to show ads. To be installed on your computer, this software may be bundled together with the installers of freeware downloaded from some third-party site. The main problem with this is that Custom Look may be advertised as a ‘free extra’ in one of the install steps of such software, which makes it more dangerous for your machine as it is difficult to spot it.
This application may be responsible for the following kinds of ads to appear on your computer.
- Pop-ups.
- Redirects.
- Search ads.
- Highlighted text.
- Banners.
- Push notifications.
On top of the ads it shows, this software may use different trackers, like geo-locators, pixels, tags, cookies and several other types of software to obtain different information from your computer, such as:
- Pages visited.
- Bookmarked sites.
- Browser history.
- Your clicks made online.
Custom Look adware may be responsible for redirects that may sometimes lead to dangerous domains as most of the ads displayed by this software are shown for profit, solely. This is why you may end up beign redirected to the following risky sites:
- Tech support scams.
- Rogue software.
- Phishing sites.
- Scam sites.
- Viruses.
- Fake retailer domains.
- Fraud surveys.
This is why this app, while not a virus, may be just as risky for your computer and should be removed from it as soon as possible.
