What is Bundlore? How to remove Bundlore?

The Bundlelore PUP is a malware for Mac which is very popular among hacking groups as it is widely spread acrosss the Internet. Derivative versions can be created by various criminal collectives and can implement various modules in it. It is categorized as a PUP as there are many derivatives available. In reality there may be a legitimate and safe tool that shares the same name however most of the releases are malicious in nature.

We have received confirmation that the Bundlelore PUP is bundled with the following application installers:

As soon as the engine is run various malicious files will be dropped to both user and system directories. They will contain the included Trojan module which will connect to a certain hacker-controlled server. It allows the operators to both drop other threats and also take over control of the affected computers.

One of the end goals of this threat is to install a specific browser hijacker which is a dangerous browser-based plugin that once installed will modify the most important settings in order to automatically redirect them to a given page. As the infection is caused through the web browser the contained information will be automatically downloaded by the criminals.

The current versions are set to install the Chumsearch.com redirect. Future versions might alter it and choose another threat.

Bundlore – Why Do I Have It and What Can It Do?

Bundlore mac advanced mac cleaner alert

The Bundlore unwanted application is being effectively distributed via freeware installers and bundled packages. You can get your Mac affected by it without even being aware, that the Bundlore has installed on your machine with a freeware installation or bundled package. You might avoid this, by unchecking options under the Advanced or Custom tab of an installation suite. Visiting suspicious sites, for instance the site of the Bundlore PUP, might get the program installed to your Mac.

Bundlore is a potentially unwanted program (PUP), and it is developed by the company PCVARK. The company is known to have lots of applications which are considered PUPs and also pushes advertisements along with their software to promote other applications. Bundlore is known to show advertising pop-ups (such as the one displayed a little further below).
Bundlore could show a reasonably convincing, but fake variant of the normal OS X dialog message box which says that no suitable app is installed. The fake message box links to the official Bundlore website, owned by PCVARK, which tries to install Advanced Mac Cleaner or similar applications. All these programs have a valid, Apple-provided developer certificate, thus macOS will install them without prompting a warning or a notification of any sort.

This message tries to trick many Mac users, with scare tactics, into installing more junk on their machines.

Remove Bundlore

If you want to remove the Bundlore unwanted software from your Mac machine we recommend that you use a specific anti-malware for Mac systems. With a specific anti-malware program, your computer will remain with a better protection and stay healthy performance-wise in the future.
