VideosFox is a browser extension supposedly aiming to enhance your experience as you watch videos online. This may sound like a useful functionality, yet experts classify VideosFox as adware and potentially unwanted program (PUP) and recommend its removal. Once installed VideosFox is known to inject a considerable amount of third party advertisements (pop-ups, banners, coupons, deals, offers, etc.) that may disrupt the user’s browsing routine and expose the affected system to numerous security issues.
How Is VideosFox Distributed?
Applications and browser extensions like VideosFox are often delivered to the user’s PC bundled with freeware programs downloaded from popular free download websites. Although the promoted apps are supposed to be safe and legitimate, users are advised to pay close attention to the installation process and not to allow random applications to end up on their machines. Selecting the Advanced installation options gives you the opportunity to opt-out. Selecting trustworthy download sources and keeping your AV products up-to-date is essential when it comes to the security of your computer.
How Does VideosFox Affect Your Computer?
After VideosFox is successfully installed on your browser (VideosFox is compatible with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other commonly used browsers), it will generate numerous intrusive online advertisements, including pop-ups, coupons, banners, price comparisons. Each of these ads may expose your system to security issues if you click on it. Third parties usually use adware to promote their products and services, but mainly to boost the traffic of their web pages and generate PPC (pay-per-click) revenue.
Adware programs are sometimes associated with unwanted and unapproved modification of the browser settings, such as redirecting the homepage and search engine tabs to predetermined websites without the user’s consent.
VideosFox may also collect certain browsing-related information, like IP address, pages visited, search queries, browser and operating system type. Sharing the gathered data with unknown third parties for various marketing purposes is not excluded.
How to Remove VideosFox from Your Computer?
VideosFox may not be of a malicious nature, but the risks the promoted third party links may expose your system to, should not be taken lightly. Malware experts recommend the removal of VideosFox from your computer either manually or with the assistance of a competent anti-spyware tool. Whichever option is more suitable for you, you can follow the steps below to delete VideosFox completely from your PC.
