Baro Search Redirect – How Did I Get It?

Baro Search is a program that operates as a typical browser redirect software. Just like other recently detected hijackers Power-Cleaner, Search-Guard, it aims to obtain access to web applications without informing users.

Questionable applications like Baro Search can get inside your computer system by using the help of common methods of distribution:

  • Installs by some other adware that has been already added to your computer.
  • Unnoticed installs by some suspicious sites advertising the PUP via pop-ups or redirects.

In case this program came bundled together with another free application like a media player, a file converter or other type of supposedly useful free software available on bogus third-party websites, it could have been added to the Advanced installation steps, like ilustarted in the example below:

Myadblockssearch

Baro Search – What Does It Do?

The first thing this program may do once it gets on your computer is modifying the settings of installed web browsers. The outcome could be the appearance of Baro Search as default search engine, new tab page, and browser homepage. Other extensions and plug-ins may also be added to your browser without your permission.

Baro Search may also use different types of tracking objects to collect information revealing details about your online browsing. The following data may be obtained by the hijacker:

  • The browsing history of your web browser.
  • Which pages you have visited.
  • Sites that you have bookmarked on your computer.
  • Where you click online and your mouse movement.

Most used among data trackers are the cookies. They can show up in the browser like in the example below:

cookies-tracking

The main idea behind the activities completed by this program is to generate revenue for its operators. That’s why it can try to flood affected browsers with lots of different adverts that can monetize every click on them:

  • Banner ads.
  • Push notification pop-ups.
  • Pop-up ads.
  • Redirect adverts.
  • Text ads, highlighted on the sites you visit.
  • Ad-supported results when you search something.

Is Baro Search a Virus?

No, Baro Search isn’t a virus. It can still pose an equal danger to your computer security. Because of the unreliable sources promoted by all adverts this program generates, you may be led to dangerous websites like:

  • Scammer websites.
  • Fraudulent tech support scams.
  • Phishing domains.
  • Redirect loop schemes of long URLs.
  • Domains that may have viruses.
  • Fake software download URLs.
  • Fake survey scams.

This is the main reason why it is strongly recommended to get rid of this indirectly risky software from your computer and your browser.

How to Remove Baro Search?

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

You can access them by opening the Windows registry editor and deleting any values, created by Baro Search there. This can happen by following the steps underneath:

1. Open the Run Window again, type "regedit" and click OK.

2. When you open it, you can freely navigate to the Run and RunOnce keys, whose locations are shown above.

3. You can remove the value of the virus by right-clicking on it and removing it.

Tip: To find a virus-created value, you can right-click on it and click "Modify" to see which file it is set to run. If this is the virus file location, remove the value.

IMPORTANT!
Before starting "Step 4", please boot back into Normal mode, in case you are currently in Safe Mode.
This will enable you to install and use SpyHunter 5 successfully.

Step 4: Scan for Baro Search with SpyHunter Anti-Malware Tool
