Cleanignite is adware claiming to help you clean your browser history in order for your browser to work better when, in fact, it overflows your browsing routine with various unwanted pop-up ads.
How Does Cleanignite Work?
As mentioned above, Cleanignite (by DigiLabz) is an ad-supported application and as such, it will spam you with multiple pop-up ads whether you want it or not. Its Terms of Service clearly state that “During general internet usage on sites where Cleanignite operates, users may see additional banner, search, pop-up, pop-under, and in-text link advertisements. You will see approximately, between 1 and 5 banner advertisements per page, 1 and 4 search advertisements per page, 1-4 intext advertisements per page, and 1-2 pop-up or pop-under ads per day.’
The idea behind this ads invasion is to trick you into clicking on those ads, which will then redirect you to particular websites that you wouldn’t otherwise open. This is how these websites gain traffic and pay-per-click profits.
What is worse is that these websites are possibly corrupted and clicking on them may put your system at risk.
Cleanignite uses cookies and web beacons for monitoring and recording your personally identifiable information (such as your name, physical mailing address, telephone number, email address, age, birth date) and non-personally identifiable information (such as IP address, type of browser, operating system, browsing habits and searches).
If you think that you can get rid of the pop-up ads by deleting the cookies, however, you are wrong. Cleanignite clearly states, ‘Users can elect to delete cookies, to disable cookies or to limit cookies to those that are pre-approved. Please note that disabling cookies on the browser does not mean Users will no longer receive online advertisements from us. It means that DigiLabz will no longer be able to deliver advertisements to that User that are tailored to his or her preferences or to limit the number of times the User see the same advertisement.’
Last but not least, Cleanignite can and will share your personally identifiable information (PII) with third parties. According to the Privacy Policy, Cleanignite will “share your PII with trusted third party contractors who provide services for us. These third party contractors are prohibited from using the information we provide for purposes other than performing services for Us.’
How Does Cleanignite Enter Your PC?
Cleanignite can enter your system either bundled with freeware you download from the Web or you can personally download it from its official website. Either way, it acts the same once it infiltrates your system.
In order to protect your system from unwanted adware, you must be aware that most adware and PUPs (potentially unwanted program) can sneak into your system unnoticed when bundled with free programs you download. Since the bundling is always mentioned throughout the installation process, you have no excuse to miss disallowing it. Just watch the installation process carefully, uncheck the options and programs you know nothing about and disable the recommended or default settings.
How Do You Get Rid of Cleanignite?
If Cleanignite is already in your system, worry not. Do not click on any of the pop-up ads. Instead, download a legitimate anti-malware program that will clean your system for you.
Spy Hunter FREE scanner will only detect the threat. If you want the threat to be automatically removed, you need to purchase the full version of the anti-malware tool. Find Out More About SpyHunter Anti-Malware Tool
