What is Infoatoms?
Infoatoms is a browser extension that is compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. This program may seem very useful. It promises that it will enhance the user’s browsing by enabling to highlight a certain portion of text, and then immediately get access to quick searches, translations, synonyms, and other features. But we do not recommend that you have this program installed on your computer. It has been classified as adware, which means that it will start generating multiple ads once it is on your PC. There are a number of security-related issues that arise when having adware on your system. This is why you should remove Infoatoms as soon as possible.
Where Did Infoatoms Come from?
Infoatoms is available on its official website, so you could have downloaded and installed it from there. However, there is a scenario in which Infoatoms enters systems without users noticing. This is done through bundled downloads. The program will be attached to installers of other free applications. If you are not careful while installing these, then Infoatoms will also be installed on your computer. To prevent any unwanted from being installed accidentally, it is recommended that you opt for Advanced/Custom installation. This way you will have the opportunity to check whether any other programs are about to be installed and stop the process.
Why Does Infoatoms Do?
Quite honestly, Infoatoms is not created for helping users. It is a free program after all. This means that the only way its developers earn money is by displaying ads. This means that the program is actually focused on generating ads more than being actually useful to users. The ads that it displays may very well be related to your browsing habits as Infoatoms can collect information such as search queries, IP address, browsing history, and any data contained on cookies. This way it is able to present relevant ads to each user, which should persuade them to click on the ads.
Is Infoatoms Dangerous?
The adware program itself is harmless; although it can be quite annoying. However, there is some risk for your system’s security. It arises due to the fact that some ads may be misleading. They may present some appealing deal, but take users to unreliable or malicious websites. This is not something that should be ignored. There is a real possibility that your computer is going to be infected with some kind of virus. Once this happens, all of your personal and financial information will be at risk of being stolen. Other websites managed by cyber criminals may try to convince you to disclose your sensitive information yourself. Most often these will offer you participation in some raffle or claim that you have already won a prize. Do not trust these under no circumstances.
How to Remove Infoatoms?
Users can uninstall Infoatoms manually. You just need to go to Control Panel, then to the list of programs, find Infoatoms, and uninstall it. You should know that there is a large possibility that more potentially unwanted programs are present on your computer. Not to mention that some malware may have already infiltrated it. To make sure that your computer is safe at all times, you should have a reliable security tool running on it at all times. This will remove all intruders automatically and make sure that no unwanted software enters your system in the future.
