The Trojan is believed to redistribute mainly via massive spam mail campaigns as an attachment to the mail. One of the most often attachment files used are:
→.doc, .docx, .pdf, .txt, .xml, .jnt
And these attachments are often in combination with the trojan’s executables, which may be:
→.exe, .bat, .cmd, .reg, .lnk
Most emails that are sent out may either resemble a legitimate service or spoof letter resembling someone famous or significant. A good example is the Windows 10 Free Upgrade spam mail message.
Download.Sapaviro Trojan in Detail
Once the Trojan is executed, it has been reported that it establishes active connection to this address:
Once established connection the Trojan may collect the Machine and Operating system information and may also download the following types of malware appropriate(based on the OS):
- Ransomware (For example, CryptoWall 3.0)
- Spyware Trojan (For example, TrojanSpy.W32/Bholog )
- Worm (For example, W32.Mydoom)
- Trojan.Clicker (For example, FaceLiker)
- Rootkit (For example, Bing Redirect Virus )
The cyber threat may download the malicious files onto the %Temp% folder in Windows. Also, the program may execute various scripts that allow the executables it situates to run on start up and to make it concealed from the user and any antivirus programs. More to it than that, most executables may resemble genuine Windows processes in the Windows Task Manager to fool even experienced users. The most copied process names are:
→svchost.exe; csrss.exe; smss.exe, winlogon.exe, explorer.exe
In case you see that any of those processes exist twice in your task manager, and one of them is not described as an official Windows Process, it may be a malicious application. Of course there are some malware applications that are concealed at all from the users and this is why you need to download an external Task Manager that is not part of Windows, like one of those provided in tis Lifehacker article (hotlink http://lifehacker.com/5378494/five-best-windows-task-manager-alternatives)
