DriverScape – What Does It Do?
DriverScape is the name of a software that is designed to scan your hardware and look for drivers to download. This software is reputable and legitimate. However, recent reports indicate that copies of it may be used for malicious purposes, such as include other software in its installer or perform other unwanted activities on your computer.
DriverScape can be downloaded if you search for your computer name and type something, like “Video card driver.” What follows is an automatically generated search result by DriverScape that may download the utility on your computer when clicked on.
The utility itself may be completely safe. However, alongside it, other programs that pretend to be useful may also be installed. Such programs may be different unwanted applications, like adware or browser hijackers. Examples of such apps include YixSpeedUp, FMPlayer and AdsA1-nerdhut.com.
Once such adware programs are added to your computer, you may start to experience different ads to begin appearing. These advertisements may slow down your computer and even make it freeze at times. They can be of the following types:
- Browser Redirects.
- Push notification ads.
- Highlighted text adverts.
The ads themselves may not all be dangerous for your computer. But some of them could lead to risky websites. Examples of sites that can be dangerous as a result of those ads could be:
- Phishing pages.
- Virus sites.
- Scam sites.
