DERZKO Ransomware Virus

What is DERZKO virus? It is a cryptovirus further classified as ransomware. It seems that the threat targets businesses worldwide. However, it may infect individuals’ PCs as well.

The malicious software damages essential settings that control the system to evade detection until the end of the attack. As a result, the system remains extremely vulnerable to further malware attacks. The end goal of this threat is to extort a ransom payment from its victims. Otherwise, hackers threaten victims that they will leak all corrupted on a dark web site.

The extortion process for .DERZKO files’ decrypter happens via a ransom message that the ransomware drops on every machine it infects. This message is stored under the name DERZKO-HELP.txt.

We strongly advise all DERZKO ransomware victims to refrain from communicating with cyber crooks via presented email addresses. It would be best if you never trusted cybercriminals. They can only take advantage of your unpleasant situation and make it even worse by stealing your money without providing a decryption solution.

DERZKO Virus (.DERZKO Files) – Overview

How does DERZKO virus land on computer operating systems? Ransomware infections like DERZKO have been proved to use several common techniques to obtain access to PCs.

Among those techniques could be email spam, hacked sites, fake software updates, torrent files, freeware programs, and compromised files. Nowadays, the Internet is full of malicious programs. That’s why we all should stay aware and choose wisely the sites we visit, the ads follow, and the files we download.

Now let’s reveal how DERZKO ransomware infects computer systems. One of the files that have been reported to activate the infection is called spt.exe. But hackers could always change its name to something else.

It’s worth mentioning that DERZKO ransomware’s code has been identified to have some similarities with the code of two other ransomware threats – NEMTY and Nefilim. The good news is that security researchers have cracked the NEMTY virus’s code, and now there is a free decryption tool for its strains. So, once you get rid of malicious DERZKO files, you could try to restore .DERZKO files by using the help of this decrypter.

Note! Before you initiate a data recovery process, you should back up all corrupted files to an external drive. Otherwise, you risk losing the files forever.

Regarding files corrupted by DERZKO ransomware, they are all likely to appear as broken files with changed names. The malicious suffix .DERZKOwill appear after the original name of each encrypted file. Unfortunately, these files will remain inaccessible until their code is reverted to its original state.

This impact helps hackers make victims more prone to pay a hefty ransom fee for a unique decryption tool. All hackers’ demands are revealed by a ransom message stored by the file DERZKO-HELP.txt. Here you can see a copy of its content:
