Virus – How Did I Get It and What Does It Do?
The main method via which you may have gotten the Virus is likely via software bundling of some sort. This type of bundling operation aims to aggressively push Virus into your computer by adding it as a “Free Extra” or an “Optional Offer” to the setups of other freeware downloaded from third-party software providing sites.
Whatever the case may be, once Virus is installed on your computer, it may immediately begin to add registry entries and assume rights as an administrator on your computer. The outcome of this may be that the Virus may begin to modify your web browser to display ads and have its home and new tab pages changed to different ones from the default. The ads that may be shown by Virus on your computer could be of the following types:
- Browser redirects.
- Ad-supported search results.
- Online banners.
The main idea of those ads shown by Virus is to transfer you to a lot of different third-party sites. The main objective of those sites may not be to just visit them. In fact, some of them can turn out to be dangerous in the sense that they can be scam sites or malicious sites.
