What Is Vawe Virus

Vawe Virus Ransomware

The Vawe virus is a ransomware cryptovirus. It is part of the STOP Ransomware family of viruses. Other recent variants from this ransomware family include Tabe Virus, Usam Virus and Nypd Virus. All of these viruses, including the Vawe virus drop a ransom note, called _readme.txt. The primary objective of this ransom note is to provide the victims with instructions that state how they must pay in BitCoin to use their files again.

.Vawe Files Extension

The .Vawe files are encrypted by a so-called encryption algorithm. In this case, it is known as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). This cipher generates a unique decryption key, that researchers call asymmetric. The main idea behind the encryption is to change the structure data in the file itself so that you can no longer open it.

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

You can access them by opening the Windows registry editor and deleting any values, created by Vawe virus there. This can happen by following the steps underneath:

1. Open the Run Window again, type "regedit" and click OK.

2. When you open it, you can freely navigate to the Run and RunOnce keys, whose locations are shown above.

3. You can remove the value of the virus by right-clicking on it and removing it.
Tip: To find a virus-created value, you can right-click on it and click "Modify" to see which file it is set to run. If this is the virus file location, remove the value.

IMPORTANT!

This will enable you to install and use SpyHunter 5 successfully.
